Straight Outta Compton's Lisa Renee Pitts Hits Again in New Urban Film, True to the Game
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2017 -- Friday, September, 8th 2017 marked the official theatrical release of the urban love story, “True to the Game,” which hit theaters nationwide; grossing over $500K in it's first two days and landing the 7th highest PER SCREEN average out of 20 films. The film is an adaptation of the novel by the same name written by New York Times Best Selling Author Teri Woods. The independent film, produced by Manny and Yolanda Halley of Imani Entertainment Group, written by Nia Hill and directed by Preston A. Whitmore II, stars Columbus Short, Vivica A. Fox, Erica Peeples, Andra Fuller, Nelsan Ellis and Draya Michele, with an appearance by Straight Outta Compton’s Lisa Renee Pitts (http://www.lisareneepitts.com).
True to the Game revolves around the life of a young drug lord who ultimately finds love but must now choose between that love and the streets that raised him. The young man, Quadir, is played by Columbus Short and Lisa Renee Pitts plays the role of his mother, Viola Richards.

The film was shot towards the end of 2015 and premiered for the first time in Atlanta on September 1st, 2017. The cast and crew were present at the Los Angeles premiere held at the Director’s Guild of America on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. The film is rated R.
Lisa Renee Pitts secured the role as Quadir’s (Columbus Short) mother Viola due to the director being impressed with her portrayal of Dr. Dre’s mother (Verna Griffin) in the box office hit Straight Outta Compton.
