Strategic Decisions Group Names Digital Business and Technology Advisor to its Consulting Team
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2016 -- Management consulting firm Strategic Decisions Group (SDG) announced today that Randy Krotowski, a former Fortune 100 CIO, has joined the firm as a principal consultant. Krotowski has more than 30 years of experience in business and technology, and was CIO for Caterpillar, Inc., and Chevron Global Upstream.
“After 30 years in industry, much of that as a CIO, Randy now advises companies on how to make and implement decisions about emerging digital technologies in their operations, products and business models,” said Dr. Carl Spetzler, SDG’s chairman and CEO. “Most of our clients are wrestling with important, long-term decisions in this domain and we are delighted that Randy will strengthen the capability we can offer to them.”
"I am excited to join SDG at this stage of my career,” said Krotowski. “I first experienced SDG’s decision quality approach as a client, beginning at Chevron when the organization first adopted decision quality for all of its major capital investment decisions. Technology decisions and portfolios are among the most complex decisions an organization can make, and decision quality brings clarity to this complex, dynamic domain.”
As vice president and CIO of Caterpillar, Krotowski led the 4,000-person global information technology organization. There he drove strategy and delivery for the digital transformation of mine and construction sites, positioning Caterpillar at the next competitive frontier for heavy equipment manufacturers. He also delivered a major cyber-security overhaul, eliminated active threats and established sophisticated defense, response and risk management capabilities.
As CIO for Chevron Global Upstream, Krotowski led IT for Chevron’s $100 billion exploration and production business where he delivered a $1 billion portfolio of projects to modernize Chevron’s exploration, reservoir management and drilling capabilities. He spearheaded a multiyear digital oilfield transformation, accelerating Chevron’s use of big data and analytics to improve oil and gas operations.
In the first 15 years of his career, Krotowski held positions in engineering, major capital projects, operations and marketing across Chevron business units where he was involved with Chevron’s adoption of decision quality as an organizational capability.
Krotowski holds an MBA from Golden Gate University and a BASc in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto. He lives in Western Massachusetts, where he is active in the local start-up community.
