Student at SAE Atlanta Wins Latin Grammy Certificate for Engineering Nominated Album
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- Miguel Peña, a student in the Audio Technology Program at SAE Institute’s Atlanta campus, has been awarded a Latin Grammy certificate for his work as Editing Engineer on the album “Todo Empieza Soñando” by Venezuelan singer/songwriter Julio César, which was nominated for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. Peña is the first student in the history of SAE USA to achieve such an honor while still enrolled in the school.
“Julio is a songwriter, a client, and a friend who I’ve been working with for a few years, and I’m honored to be a part of his team,” says Peña. “I did the editing in July of 2014 at Audi-O-Zoink, my studio in Venezuela, and I was fortunate to have been able to contribute to each of the album’s 11 tracks.”
Peña grew up in Valencia, Venezuela. He began playing guitar while in his teens, and became interested in audio technology when his band was recording songs that he had written.
“I was amazed while I was watching the studio engineer doing his work,” says Peña. “It was at that time that I decided to learn how to create this beautiful art.”
During a trip to Atlanta to visit his family in 2013, Peña researched a number of area colleges that offered programs in audio technology. Upon the recommendation of a friend who had graduated from SAE Miami, Peña visited SAE’s Atlanta campus and was impressed by the faculty and facilities. He enrolled in the school’s ATP (Audio Technology Program) in October ’14.
“The SAE experience has been a dream come true for me, and even better than I imagined,” says Peña. “The program is very intense; it moves fast and always keeps me focused. I also really like the school’s ‘open door’ policy because it allows for easy student access to professors, directors, lab instructors, and all important faculty members and administrators.”
After he graduates from SAE Atlanta this year, Peña aims to become a full-time engineer and producer. While he’d like to focus on Latin music, he doesn’t want to establish any boundaries to his creativity and is open to working in different genres.
“My advice for SAE students and recent graduates who want to build careers in the world of studio and music recording is to work hard and be patient,” says Peña. “Always be sure to put in your best effort in order to achieve great results that you can be proud of – and which can lead to future opportunities.”
