Student Launch Pad and Dale Carnegie Partner to Offer New College Prep Camp
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- Student Launch Pad has partnered with Dale Carnegie of Georgia to offer a new college preparation and leadership summer camp for high school students. This five-day camp combines the proven Dale Carnegie training with Student Launch Pad's college preparation and application, major selection, and career guidance program.
The camp is recommended for high school students and will be held June 1-5, 2015 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Dale Carnegie of Georgia office in Atlanta, Georgia.
Wendy Johnson, President of Dale Carnegie of Georgia, says, “We are very excited about the partnership between Dale Carnegie of Georgia and Student Launch Pad. This camp will give teenagers the skills they need to reach their goals and live up to their full potential at school, home, and work.”
High school students are on the cusp of a critical transition period. Many are stuck in the unknowns of their future, lacking clarity and confidence in their unique strengths and passions. Using three assessment tests students will discover their passions, values, and strengths to select their best career, college, and major. For students who plan to attend college, they will begin working on the college selection, application, and essay writing process.
Through this program, students avoid being one of the 50% of college students who change their major three times and take longer than 6 years to graduate (source). As a result, they can save an extra $37,000 in tuition by graduating on time.
Stephanie Shackelford, Founder of Student Launch Pad, says, “Many parents want to jump in and tell their child how to go down the best path for their future. However, students must first answer the question of ‘Who am I?’ to then plan action steps on how to accomplish their goals.”
Through the Student Launch Pad and Dale Carnegie Summer Camp, students will understand their top strengths and skills, building self-confidence and leadership abilities. They will enhance their communication skills, learning how to present themselves naturally and easily in an interview and write a resume that will get them noticed. By the end of the camp, students will have created a 50-page personalized portfolio that includes: assessment results, resume and interview preparation packets, and a college essay and application manual.
