Study: EBV May be a Cause of Aggressive Breast Cancer; The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) Reviews the Study
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) February 23, 2015 -- “Infected with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV)? The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD), which tested the formula of Novirin in two post-marketing clinical studies, recommends taking this natural antiviral supplement.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
A recent study showed that the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is linked to aggressive breast cancer. (1) In medicine, the term “aggressive” describes a tumor or disease that forms, grows, or spreads quickly. This link has been recognized for some time, but it wasn’t clear to what degree. In fact, Dr. Chafika Mazouni and colleagues wrote that “the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is clearly associated with nasopharyngeal cancer, but a causal relationship with BC was also demonstrated in the mid-1990s.” (1) Dr. Mazouni is from the Institute of Surgery and Gynecological and Breast Oncology at the Beauregard Hospital in Marseille, France. The link between EBV and breast cancer is important since, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine, “every year in the United States, close to 260,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. They are women of all ages and all types: young women, older women, wives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, friends and loved ones.” (See Johns Hopkins Medicine) (2)
The CDC notes that “Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives.” (See the CDC, last reviewed on January 26, 2014) (3) The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that in light of the medical evidence, infected women take Novirin. The formula of this natural, antiviral supplement was designed to help the immune system target the latent EBV.

The formula of Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin formula is effective against the herpes family of viruses. The Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is a member of the herpes family. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the EBV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula of Novirin).” (4) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (4)
Novirin can be ordered online on the product website.
Novirin is a natural antiviral dietary supplement. Its formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin is the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.
Researchers showed that EBV infects many breast cancer tumors, and in fact, EBV made the tumors worse. “The frequency of grade III tumours (Tumor grade is an indicator of how quickly the tumor is likely to grow and spread) was higher among EBV-positive BC cases.” (1) Furthermore, “virus-related BC has a poor prognosis, particularly when multiple viruses are detected in breast specimens. We previously demonstrated that EBV-positive BC exhibits more aggressive characteristics. Other authors corroborated our findings….” (1)
Dr. Nikolas Hedberg wrote that “a lot of people forget that Epstein-Barr Virus is a herpes virus. It’s in that family. It’s a gamma virus and it’s very different from the other herpes virus in that it’s the only one to infect B cells … it is transmitted by saliva, and the first place that it infects is the B cells in the tonsils. That’s where it germinates and that’s where it really sets up shop….” (See DrHedberg.com from January 16, 2015) (5) Dr. Hedberg is a practitioner of “functional medicine.”
What treatments are available for those with breast cancer?
“Early detection is key. We strongly encourage you to seek the advice of an experienced breast specialist if you notice any of the following symptoms: lump in the breast, thickening of the breast skin, rash or redness of the breast, breast swelling, new onset of breast pain, dimpling around the nipple or on the breast skin, nipple pain or the nipple turning inward, nipple discharge, lumps in the underarm area, changes in the appearance of the nipple or breast that are different from the normal monthly changes a woman experiences.” (2) “Most patients with breast cancer have surgery to remove the cancer from the breast. Some of the lymph nodes under the arm are usually taken out and looked at under a microscope to see if they contain cancer cells … chemotherapy may be given before surgery to remove the tumor. When given before surgery, chemotherapy will shrink the tumor and reduce the amount of tissue that needs to be removed during surgery.” (See Cancer.gov, from November 25, 2014) (6) Other types of breast cancer treatment include radiation therapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy (which uses drugs or other substances to identify and attack specific cancer cells without harming normal cells).
What treatments are available for EBV infections?
“A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans.” (4) There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing EBV symptoms. Two of these products are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.
“Based on the results of these studies, and the CBCD’s own research, we recommend that EBV infected women take Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
