Study Finds Denver-Area Traffic Among Worst in U.S.: Denver Car Accident Attorneys at Bell & Pollock, P.C. Comment

Bell, co-founder of Denver law firm Bell & Pollock, P.C., based his comments on a March 31 article carried by Fox 31, “Study: Denver area in top 25 for worst traffic in U.S.” The article detailed a study conducted by GPS manufacturer TomTom finding Denver to have the 22nd worst morning and evening commute times in the United States.
“Longer commute times inevitably mean drivers must deal with stop-and-go, bumper-to-bumper traffic on a weekly basis,” Bell said. “With so many people on the road at once, a split second of inattention – such as when a driver is preoccupied by his or her cell phone – can lead to a rear-end crash or an intersection accident.”
According to the Fox 31 article, TomTom studied traffic patterns of more than 200 cities across the world. The study, which looked at average traffic delays during morning and evening commutes, found Denver to rank 22nd in the United States with an average delay for a 30 minute commute being 18 minutes.
Overall, Denver drivers spend an average of 70 additional hours every year stuck in traffic, with the worst commutes being Wednesday morning and Thursday evening, according to Fox 31. Additionally, TomTom found the easiest weekly commutes in Denver to be Friday morning and Monday evening.
As a result, attorney Bradley P. Pollock said it’s critical for drivers to remain especially alert and aware during rush hour traffic across the metro area.
