Study: Shingles is Associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Individuals who experience a shingles (herpes zoster) outbreak are almost twice as likely to develop Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). The CBCD therefore urges everyone infected with a latent virus, such as the varicella zoster virus (VZV), the human papillomavirus (HPV), the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2), the cytomegalovirus (CMV, and more to learn about Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the HPV, HSV-1, HSV-2, EBV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the (HPV, HSV-1, HSV-2, EBV, and other viruses)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3)

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Dr. Shapiro continued, writing that “infections of the peripheral ganglia are known to cause long-term nerve dysfunction, which would help explain the chronic course of CFS. Herpesviruses have long been suspected as the cause of CFS; this theory has recently been supported by studies showing that administering antiherpes agents causes substantial improvement in some CFS patients.” (2)
“Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. After a person recovers from chickenpox, the virus stays in the body in a dormant (inactive) (latent) state.
