StudyBlue Announces Homework Help Search Engine for Studying
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- StudyBlue, the leading crowdsourced learning app, announced today the launch of Homework Help, the world’s biggest user-generated search engine for studying that instantly matches student questions with highly relevant, crowdsourced content. The new feature leverages StudyBlue’s extensive database of more than 350 million user-generated digital flashcards and notes created and used by over 13+ million students, encompassing nearly every subject taught at the college level.
Homework Help’s proprietary engine generates personalized results for StudyBlue users, delivering multiple explanations of concepts from others studying the same material. The technology is based on research by Uri Treisman, professor of mathematics at the University of Texas, and others that shows collaboration by peers is the most effective way to learn.
“Students have told us that they learn better and feel more prepared when they can share and compare with others studying the same thing. We’re now making it easier for students to leverage the power of crowdsourced knowledge in a highly relevant way. With over 350 million concepts covering over 5000 subjects, we’re putting the power of the crowd into the hands of each student.” Chris Klundt, CEO and founder of StudyBlue, said.
The new Homework Help tool allows students to quickly and easily access class-specific, crowdsourced explanations by relevancy and subject. Students can ask study questions, view the most relevant answers by topic or class and create super study decks to take with them on the go. Homework Help bridges the world’s largest content library with the first search engine for studying that serves up peer-to-peer knowledge. Students learn from one another and supplement their educational resources beyond professors and textbooks.
To go along with an expanding product, StudyBlue is also increasing its team by over 100%. StudyBlue moved into new offices in downtown San Francisco earlier this year to accommodate a doubling of the team’s size, and has appointed J. Michael Locke as an advisory board member. Mr. Locke has extensive experience in higher education, most recently as president and CEO of Rasmussen College and CEO and founder of Deltak, an online education services company acquired by John A. Wiley & Sons. Locke will advise on strategic academic and business decisions that relate to StudyBlue’s mission of offering crowdsourced learning to students everywhere, anytime.
“I’m excited to join the StudyBlue and help students learn better,” Locke said. “I believe StudyBlue is well positioned to capitalize on many of the trends disrupting higher education like peer-to-peer learning, digital content replacing textbooks and competency-based education.”
