Succeed Management Solutions, LLC Expands their Online Training Library with a Comprehensive Office Ergonomics Self-Evaluation Course
(PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- Employees who work in offices may not work in a typical high-risk environment, but they are potentially exposed to hazards that center on bad ergonomic practices. There are many office workers who suffer from preventable injuries. Employers can make a difference by focusing on the establishment of proper ergonomics in their workplace.
Ergonomics is the science of designing and maintaining a comfortable and safe workplace. Workers who have good posture and practice proper ergonomics can substantially reduce the risk of musculoskeletal stress, muscle fatigue, and other injuries. This, in turn, “reduces the number and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders” (from Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders in the Workplace, an OSHA safety & health topic).
OSHA requires employers to provide “a safe and healthful workplace for their workers,” and recommends employers to establish an ergonomic process to reduce the associated risks. Aside from involving management and conducting safety observations, OSHA specifically lists training as one of the major factors to reduce ergonomic stress. By educating and informing workers, employers can help reduce ergonomic-related injuries and the associated workers compensation costs (from Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders in the Workplace, an OSHA safety & health topic).
Succeed Management Solutions, LLC has released a new course titled “Office Ergonomics Self-Assessment.” This course is interactive and allows office and desk workers to evaluate their ergonomic practices in real-time, by answering questions regarding their posture and work environment. The course then offers pointers on how to improve their ergonomic practices and conditions. The course discusses the importance of a neutral working position, how to improve seating conditions, the proper position of a mouse, keyboard, and monitor, and how to reduce monitor glare. It also covers the proper organization and setup of the work area and environment, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle to improve ergonomics.
As with all Succeed courses, this training can be assigned to employees via Training Track™, an application that is designed to automate all aspects of employee training. Training Track™ is one of the available applications in the web-based Succeed Risk Management Center. The Risk Management Center® also contains other OSHA-required programs, training materials, and integrated software solutions.
