Succeed Management Solutions, LLC Offers an Online Course Addressing the Amended California Heat Stress Law
(PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- The amended California law regarding heat illness prevention includes additional training requirements for employers and employees. Employers are also required to implement an effective emergency action plan available in both English and the language that is understood by the majority of employees. Other changes include providing more frequent rest periods, access to shade, potable water, and adequate access to first aid. Compliance with these updated provisions is necessary in order to avoid citations and provide a safe workplace for employees.
OSHA is increasing their enforcement effort on employer’s failure to comply with properly protecting employees from heat-related illnesses. The maximum fine of $70,000 was enforced from a case of a worker’s heat-related death in Independence, Mo. in 2012 (from OSHA’s Regional News Release, 12/17/2012). OSHA will continue to apply strict citations to employers demonstrating disregard to the law and overall workplace safety and health from fines no less than $5,000 for each conscious violation as stated in OSHA’s Sec. 17. Penalties. Employers are at risk of receiving increased fines and citations if they do not apply and practice the new standard immediately.
Workers who are able to accurately identify the symptoms of heat stress illnesses in high-heat environments are more able to prevent heat stress issues. Training workers on the updated OSHA standards is critical.
Succeed Management Solutions, LLC now offers an updated training course to address these needs and help achieve compliance under the new California heat stress law. This course, entitled “Heat Stress Prevention”, includes safety assurance tips and helps employees understand their rights under the new standard. It also explains how organizations can improve emergency preparedness communication practices to enhance the safety and workplace morale.
The Heat Stress Prevention course is designed so that everyone in the workplace will understand the preventative safety measures to address a high-heat environment.
As with all Succeed courses, this training can be assigned to employees via Training Track™, an application that is designed to automate all aspects of an employee training program. Training Track™ is one of the available applications in Succeed’s web-based Risk Management Center. The Risk Management Center also contains other OSHA-required programs, training materials, and integrated software solutions.
