2014 IRS Tax Deadline is April 15, 2014
The official IRS deadline for individual tax returns, of course, was April 15, 2014. Most individuals realize that they not only need to file their state and Federal tax forms by that date, but that they should start preparations for their taxes in advance. In addition, bookkeeping and other issues need to be conducted, if possible, well in advance of that tax deadline. That said, last minute filing issues do occur for individuals. Therefore, Safe Harbor LLP initiated a special ‘rapid response’ system for late return filers by individuals as follows.
First, any interested individual, especially high income or those with complex tax issues, were able to call Safe Harbor LLP at (415) 760-6924 or visit the website to send a secure inquiry. Second, Safe Harbor LLP conducted free 15 minute interview with the individual to identify tax issues and decide if there was a good fit. Third, the client was advised on how to prepare the necessary bookkeeping and other documentation for the tax filing. Fourth, the client generally had an in-person meeting or a meeting via the Internet with Safe Harbor LLP personnel. Fifth, Safe Harbor reviewed the information provided and, if possible, filed the tax forms to meet the deadline. If not, the individual was assisted in filing for an extension.
Note that every individual situation is, of course, different and the firm’s goal was to make the best decision for that individual in terms of Federal or California tax filing requirements.
