Sugarlands Distilling Company Awarded Six Medals in Spirits Competition
Gatlinburg, Tenn. (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- Sugarlands Distilling Company received six medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its craft moonshine, including a gold medal for Jim Tom's Unaged Rye in the unaged whiskey category.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is regarded as the most respected spirits competition in the world. Products are evaluated by top spirits professionals and are judged in a blind, consensual procedure ensuring competitive integrity and making this annual competition the most reputable and recognized competition in the spirits industry.
Sugarlands distilling company was awarded four silver medals in the flavored whiskey category for its Appalachian Apple Pie, Butterscotch Gold, Tickle's Dynamite Cinnamon, and Mark Rogers' American Peach. Silver Cloud Tennessee Sour Mash received the bronze medal in the unaged whiskey category.
The 15th annual competition was held March 19-22nd at the elegant Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco. This year, the number of submissions totaled 1580 from 41 states, 66 countries covering 90 classifications.
Forty-one international judges gathered this year with several notable judges returning to the roster, including noted spirits writer and author David Wondrich, double degree Doug Frost, MS, MW, leading NYC based mixologist Julie Reiner and writer Sean Ludford.
