Sujata Tibrewala’s Just Concluded Exhibit at the Life Force Art Center Gallery in Chicago, Talking About the Pain of Letting Go Received an Overwhelming Response
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) January 23, 2017 -- A recently concluded art show in Chicago brought together talented artists from various genres to showcase their works reflecting on the perception of self. Feminist artist Sujata Tibrewala who was a part of this show titled,‘The Creative Soul: Art & the 9 levels of the Self,’ showed some of the paintings that hold an important place in her life. The aim of the three month long exhibit was to exhort the artists to explore the many depths of ones’ own soul and the emotions that lead to self discovery.
The Creative Soul exhibit series that was conducted in three parts, throughout the year 2016 and was concluded in early January this year, talked about the various experiences that art brings along. It explored the three reasons why art is important – to awaken experiences that we may be ignoring in our busy lives, to create whimsical but important alternate worlds through work, play and ritual and lastly to open a dialogue with many layers of our conscious self.
Ms Tibrewala who has been a part of all the three series, explores her own experiences that have made her life both vivid and meaningful.
Showcased at the exhibit was an artwork by Ms Tibrewala titled, ‘Slipping Away,’ the deeply engaging painting that shows a young woman with deep, expressive eyes serves as an emotional discovery for the artist of her own self. As she comes to terms with the fact that her young daughter would now be leaving her home and sheltered life to begin university and carve her own destiny, the artist can’t help but delve into the myriad emotions the journey brings along. While seeing her daughter ready to take on the world on her own, the artist realizes that the deeply gratifying years of motherhood have been the most significant years of her life. The painting aptly titled, Slipping Away, lets her explore the inner experiences of her own soul, which were powerful and fragile at the same time.
While she feels glad that she was able to empower a soul she also feels highly anxious about letting a piece of her own soul walk away. The two varying emotions totally sum up the collective experience of being a mother and letting go becomes a compelling expedition that shapes our life’s journey.
