Summer Athletics Program – Coached By Professional Athletes – For Children Ages 10 To 13 At Ingenium Charter Middle School In Canoga Park
Canoga Park, CA (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- A free new Summer Athletics Program coached by professional athletes is being offered at Ingenium Charter Middle School (ICMS) in Canoga Park. The program, open to all youth ages 10-13, will run July 8 – 24, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 22250 Elkwood Street, Canoga Park, CA 91304 (on the Columbus Middle School campus). In order to participate, children must sign up at the school, which is open Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The deadline to apply is July 8, 2014.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer a no-cost summer athletics program to students in our communities,” said Glenn Noreen, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Ingenium Schools. “At ICMS, we believe that sports are an important part of a child’s school experience, because, in addition to increasing student discipline, they establish a code of conduct with core values, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, boost school spirit and pride, and help instill academic excellence,” added Noreen.
The program – run by Ingenium Athletics Director, Daryl Vinson, a former member of the U.S. Air Force-Presidential Mission Staff who also played football for the Air Force Pacific Theater – gives children an opportunity to learn about and participate in 3 different sports including: basketball, track and field, and soccer. Participating youth will also learn athletic development, which includes learning 9 skills sets for each program. Donald Carpenter, an All-City running back for Taft and Sylmar high schools, All-American running back at the University of William Penn, and NFL Europe and Level 1 pro football player will coach the Ingenium track and field program.
“At Ingenium, education is about exposure and a journey of self-discovery,” said Daryl Vinson, director of the Summer Athletics Program at ICMS. “We want to build a sports program that builds on the core values of the Ingenium system,” added Vinson.
Program Details
• All children ages 10-13 (grades 5-8) can sign up for free Summer Athletics Program at Ingenium Charter Middle School in Canoga Park (22250 Elkwood Street, Canoga Park, CA 91304).
• Youth will learn about and participate in basketball, track and field and soccer.
• The program will run from July 8 – 24, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• The deadline to sign up for the program is July 8.
