Sunlight Mountain Resort 2015 Ski Spree Celebrates Colorful Colorado
Glenwood Springs, Colo. (PRWEB) January 15, 2015 -- Among the Roaring Fork Valley’s most anticipated mid-winter community events, the annual ANB Bank Ski Spree extravaganza, Feb. 6-8, at Sunlight Mountain Resort brings people together whether or not they ski or snowboard. Attendees can participate in events that take place both on the mountain and in town. Weekend highlights include ski and snowboarding contests, a highly competitive chili cook-off and a fireworks show at the historic Hotel Colorado, adjacent to the world-famous Glenwood Hot Springs Pool.
“Ski Spree celebrates the tremendous joy we have of living and playing in our beautiful state in the winter,” said Tom Jankovsky, general manager of Sunlight Mountain Resort. “Whether you’re a local, a returning visitor or a first time Ski Spree attendee, you’ll find yourself surrounded by genuine Western Colorado hospitality on the slopes and in town.” This year’s theme, Colorful Colorado, salutes the beauty of the Centennial State, and guests are encouraged to get creative and interpret that theme any way they see fit!
Among the highlighted events is the annual ANB Bank Chili Cook-off which begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. The event has grown in size and has become highly competitive over the years. In addition to entries from restaurant professionals and avid home-cooks, event sponsor ANB Bank has issued a challenge to all the banks in the Roaring Fork Valley to enter the contest and vie for the coveted title of Best Chili. One of the benefits for guests is the chance to sample many chili varieties and cast a vote for their favorite.
The Chili Cook-off gets the party started, but entertainment courtesy of The Missing Link Band keeps the festivities rollicking throughout the evening. This favorite long-time local band performs a dance-friendly mix of country, R&B and classic rock.
At 8 p.m. after the Chili Cook-off, watch as fireworks light up the night sky above the historic Hotel Colorado. The winter fireworks display, visible from locations throughout downtown Glenwood Springs, is especially beautiful against a backdrop of snow-covered mountains, and a delight to onlookers of all ages.
Admission to the Ski Spree events at the Hotel Colorado requires a 2015 Ski Spree bracelet, but purchasing one in advance will save attendees money all weekend long. Bracelets are just $10. In addition to admittance to events at the Hotel Colorado, guests with bracelets can save $10 on lift tickets at Sunlight on Saturday and Sunday and receive discounts at participating local businesses throughout the weekend. The proceeds raised benefit Sunlight’s learn-to-ski programs for children. Bracelets are available for advance purchase in Glenwood Springs at Sunlight Ski and Bike, ANB Bank and at the door at the Hotel Colorado on Feb. 7.
Ski Spree is an ideal time to plan a weekend getaway in Glenwood Springs. For an outstanding value, book a Ski Swim Stay package, one of Colorado’s top-selling winter packages. Ski Swim Stay packages start at just $99 and bundle a lift ticket at Sunlight Mountain Resort and admission to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool with a stay at one of several participating lodges. Plus, kids 12 and younger ski free with a paying adult (some restrictions apply).
