Sunset Finances Voices Opinion on New Trend of High Tech Funerals
Memphis, TN (PRWEB) September 28, 2013 -- After a recent article was published outlining a brand new and very high-tech funeral home called Serenity Columbarium and Memorial Gardens in Memphis, TN, Sunset Finances voiced their opinion about memorials and funeral services that appeal to a tech-savvy crowd, but perhaps not the more traditional consumers.
Kontji Anthony’s article, “Cemeteries, Cremations, Funerals go High Tech in Memphis,” was published on September 25th, 2013 on the WMCTV 5 website. Anthony interviews Former Congressman Harold Ford, Sr. whose new funeral home is receiving attention for being so high-tech. The chapels feature webcams for out-of-town family members who could not make it to the services, and a cremation operation that Ford hopes to launch an app for soon. Ford is quoted as saying, “With the big museum that will open last, it will be about 200,000 of them (urn plots). You will get an app. You can zoom in any time, in real time, and look at the urn wherever you are in the world."
Sunset Finances likes the idea of accommodating family members who live out of town by allowing them to “virtually” attend a funeral, but is concerned about bringing too much technology into such an industry. Sunset Finances is quoted as saying, “Technology can be somewhat impersonal, like texting or emails instead of phone calls, and memorials and funerals are very personal affairs. Some technology is necessary and even convenient, but mixing too much does not strike me as setting the proper tone to pay one’s respects to a loved one.”
Folks who would like to have a technology-savvy funeral or memorial can certainly write it into their wills. SunsetFinances.com recommends that anyone looking for more info on wills, AARP or funeral insurance, and/or memorials can find information on BurialInsuranceInsider.com.
