Super Bowl 2014 at MetLife Stadium to be biggest ever for Sport.co.uk
(PRWEB UK) 20 December 2013 -- DSG have today announced that it will be offering full coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII on its sport news site Sport.co.uk.
The 48th edition of the Super Bowl will be held on February 2nd 2014 at the MetLife Stadium to determine the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2013 season. Sport.co.uk will be providing extended coverage of the game which will provide many firsts including the first to be played outdoors in a cold environment and the first to have two host teams in the New York Giants and New York Jets. The traditional halftime show despite logistical concerns due to the cold weather will include a performance by Bruno Mars and an expected audience of between 80-90 million in the US which makes up 98% of the global audience. Only the Champions League final has a larger global audience and this year will surely be spectacular again.
In the five year period between 2008 and 2012 five different teams have won the Super Bowl with nine different teams involved. The current era therefore is extremely open and competitive, helping its popularity grow say DSG.
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say: “We are really excited to be covering the Super Bowl for our audience which has a rapidly growing following within the UK. The fact that the NFL games played here are so popular and so quickly sold out is testament to the growing popularity of the sport outside of the US. There is no real dominant team at the moment and this unpredictability makes for a thrilling tournament. This year's Super Bowl is going to be fantastic and we will be providing live coverage, news and stats as the game is played.”
Sport.co.uk will be providing a strong package of Super Bowl coverage said Jason Hope, Content Manager.
“We have been following the NFL all this season and are pleased to finish our season’s coverage in style with a great Super Bowl on February 2. Join us on Sport.co.uk for the best Super Bowl coverage in the UK with live updates across our site and social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. Join in with the game debates and have a fantastic Super Bowl!”
