SuperTruck Technical Panel on the Agenda for SAE 2016 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress in Rosemont, Ill.
Warrendale, Pa. (PRWEB) September 29, 2016 -- SuperTruck Technical Panel on the Agenda for SAE 2016 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress in Rosemont, Ill.
SAE International announces the SuperTruck Technical Panel at the SAE 2016 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress, which will be held Oct. 4-6 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.
The SuperTruck Technical Panel will offer firsthand experiences from the engineers from Cummins & Peterbilt, Freightliner, Navistar and Volvo who designed SuperTrucks for this industry and DOE co-funded initiative, and learn their plans for next steps. The panel will be held on the exhibit floor with the large vehicle static displays.
The panel will be held Wednesday, October 5 in Exhibit Hall G with the large vehicle static displays from:
• Cummins Inc.
The Peterbilt 579 exhibited by the Cummins-Peterbilt SuperTruck team is powered by the recently unveiled Cummins X15 Performance Series and incorporates many of the key engine and vehicle technologies that were developed and demonstrated in its successful U.S. DOE-partnered SuperTruck program completed in 2014.
• Daimler
Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA) SuperTruck program achieved 115% efficiency improvement, surpassing the DOE program’s goal of 50% improvement. During the development of the SuperTruck, DTNA engineers investigated how high-risk, high-reward technologies used in other industries could be applied to Class 8 vehicles.
• Freightliner
Freightliner Inspiration Truck is the first licensed autonomous commercial truck to operate on an open public highway in the United States, showcasing what is possible through the energy of infinite inspiration.
• International Truck
Formed in 1902, International Truck is a leading producer of medium-, heavy-duty, and severe service commercial vehicles. Its products, parts, and services are sold through a network of over 700 dealer outlets in North America.
• Oshkosh Corp.
The Oshkosh TerraMax UGV technology delivers both force protection and force multiplier capabilities to the modern battlefield. Vehicles outfitted with the TerraMax system provide a force protection advantage by removing operators from the vehicles entirely, and creating a safe standoff distance from threats such as improvised explosive device attacks.
The Oshkosh JLTV is the next-generation light tactical wheeled vehicle with an unprecedented combination of protection, mobility, transportability, and net-ready systems integration that delivers the network capability of a mobile command center.
• Volvo Group North America
VNL64T670 with Enhanced Fuel Efficiency: bumper, flared chassis fairings, roof fairing updates, chassis packaging, cooling fan and fan clutch, I-Shift cooler, application specific powertrain solutions, optimized under hood and complete vehicle airflow characteristics, reduced wheelbase, optimized trailer gap, improved serviceability, and substantial fuel savings.
With a theme of “Connectivity,” the SAE 2016 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition, brings together a global assembly of both on- and off-road professionals, providing solid, profitable interaction with engineers, supply managers and executives. Executive Chairman for the event is Dr. Wilfried Achenbach, Senior Vice President, Engineering & Technology, Daimler Trucks North America.
