Support Veterans and Join Working Wardrobes as it Hosts Orange County Premiere of Groundbreaking Documentary, Citizen Soldier
Irvine, California (PRWEB) August 10, 2016 -- Working Wardrobes, an Orange County, California nonprofit specializing in helping people overcome difficult challenges to find work and achieve self-sufficiency, today announced it will host a special screening of the groundbreaking documentary, Citizen Soldier, on August 25th at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana. This special event marks the Orange County exclusive premiere of the dramatic feature film and is designed to support veterans in their transition to civilian life, and on their quest to find meaningful employment.
In attendance from the film will be: co-director David Salzberg; executive producer and two-time recipient of the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service during her time at the Department of Defense Wendy R. Anderson; producer and infantry squad leader featured in the film Eran Harrill; and former Tactical Air Control Party Squad Leader of the 146th Air Support Operations Squadron featured in the film, MSgt. Raymond Viel (Ret).
Citizen Soldier is the next feature film from the directors of The Hornet’s Nest. It offers an excruciatingly personal look into modern warfare, brotherhood, and patriotism from the point of view of a group of young soldiers from the Oklahoma Army National Guard’s 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (known since World War II as the “Thunderbirds”) during their life-changing tour of duty in Afghanistan. Using real footage from multiple cameras, including helmet cams, these Citizen Soldiers give the audience an intimate view into the chaos and horrors of combat and, in the process, display their bravery and valor under the most hellish of conditions.
“This film brilliantly highlights the extraordinary and unprecedented role that the National Guard has played in post 9-11 wars, and offers a heart-pounding, heartfelt, grunt’s eye view of the war,” said Harry Humphries, former Navy SEAL and Executive Director of VetNet. “We feel this is an important movie for every American to see because it is a visually stunning and jarring look at real people fighting a very real war. Men and women such as those shown in the film are receiving help from Working Wardrobes’ VetNet to navigate the civilian workforce as they return from war, and it is our great honor to serve them!”
Gene Galloway, a former Marine and President and CEO of Plaza Bank, says it is especially meaningful for his organization to be supporting this event for the second year in a row.
Plaza Bank, a full service community bank serving the business and professional communities in Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada, is the generous corporate sponsor of this event for two years running, having sponsored Working Wardrobes’ screening of The Hornet’s Nest last year.
“Our ultimate goal is to build awareness of the sacrifices our nation’s military make to protect our freedom, and the support they absolutely deserve when they return from service,” said Galloway. “We’re proud to sponsor this event once again and we’re very appreciative of the support VetNet provides to those who have so bravely served.”
