SureStep Introduces Innovative Dynamic Cervical Orthosis for Mild to Moderate Head Drop
South Bend, Indiana (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- SureStep, LLC, a leading designer and distributor of a number of orthotic devices, is excited to officially introduce the Dynamic Cervical Orthosis (DCO) product designed specifically for patients with mild to moderate head ptosis (head drop). SureStep’s new DCO is the most advanced system available for the treatment of head drop.
SureStep originally introduced the DCO to industry insiders as a soft-launch at the AOPA National Assembly in September, and is today releasing new information to the public.
The dynamic DCO device supports a neutral, midline position, while still allowing normal movement. The new device helps to facilitate strengthening of the musculature of the neck for those with poor head control, neck weakness, head drop (ptosis), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, myopathy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or poor head control due to hypotonic cerebral palsy.
“We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback that we’ve received so far,” said Bernie Veldman, owner and CEO of SureStep. “Orthotists and physical therapists are truly excited about the DCO because there is nothing else like it on the market, and it is something that will make a difference in the lives of so many people.”
Using small elastic tensioning or resistance bands, DCO separates itself from other cervical support systems through its dynamic function. DCO allows the head to move against the adjustable resistance bands, giving the wearer the ability to achieve normal range of motion while maintaining a neutral extended position when at rest.
The DCO device is adjustable for different heights, head shapes and varying degrees of head drop. It is easily contoured to fit any body shape and can be worn under normal clothing.

About SureStep:
SureStep, LLC, based in South Bend, Indiana, designs, produces and distributes a number of orthotic devices, particularly for children with low muscle tone. Frustrated by the functional limitations created by traditional rigid bracing made of hard plastics, in 2000, founder Bernie Veldman, CO, created a lighter and more flexible device that would allow and even encourage normal development of a child’s gait without decreasing function. The result was the creation of a revolutionary dynamic stabilizing system named SureStep. SureStep is the most effective means of providing stability to children who pronate when standing and walking. This patented, dynamic system allows children to gain stability, while still allowing natural movement and function. SureStep creates and distributes additional products addressing a wide range of pediatric orthotic issues for children of all ages. To learn more about SureStep, please visit http://www.surestep.net.
