TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) June 22, 2018 -- SurgCenter Development (SCD), a leading developer of ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) nationwide, announced today the completion of its 30,000th joint replacement since the joint replacement program’s inception in 2013. This milestone also represents SCD’s 10,000th joint replacement in a 12-month period.

SCD performed a record number of joint replacements in 2017. More than 8,300 patients received joint replacements at 87 facilities in 20 states. This topped the record number performed in 2016 of nearly 7,000 joint replacements at 79 centers in 19 states.

Of those receiving joint replacements at an SCD center, 97 percent were discharged the same day with an average recovery time of only four hours. Ninety-seven percent of hip replacement patients and 99 percent of uni-knee replacement patients went home the same day. SCD patients had a readmission rate of 0.4 percent and a combined infection rate of less than 0.25 percent.

SCD has opened nine new ASCs this year, totaling 112 operational facilities in 25 states, with 16 more in development. SCD’s 1,700 surgeon partners treat 210,000 patients annually providing surgical care in multiple specialties including orthopedics, spine, ENT, pain and podiatry.
