Surgent Announces 2017 Professional Education Scholarship Recipients For College Students Pursuing Accounting
Devon, PA (PRWEB) August 25, 2017 -- Surgent, the leading continuing professional education (CPE) provider for CPAs and other accounting, financial, and tax professionals, today announced the selection of three accounting majors at top higher education institutions for its 2017 Professional Education Scholarship.
Surgent’s annual Professional Education Scholarship Program offers three scholarships to college students working towards an accounting major and currently attending an accredited college or university within the U.S.
This year’s recipients are currently enrolled at the University of Houston, the University of Colorado, and Rutgers University.
Through a competitive and rigorous application process, applicants are selected based upon merit and the strength of a thought-provoking, personal essay focused on a topic within the accounting industry. Applications are reviewed by a judging committee comprised of Surgent staff and advisors. The 2017 essay challenged applicants to answer the following question: “In your own words, describe the differences between management accounting and financial accounting, as well as why both are crucial to a successful business?”
“I decided to apply for Surgent’s scholarship because my goal is to pursue a career in accounting,” said Petr Samoylov, a recipient of the 2017 Surgent Professional Education Scholarship. “I also found the essay question interesting and important.”
As a 30-year leader in professional education, Surgent understands how important high-quality education is to accounting and tax professionals.
“At Surgent, we take pride in offering valuable education and not just CPE credits,” said CEO Evan Kramer, CPA (inactive), “And education begins long before CPA licensure. Surgent is committed to maximizing career growth opportunities from the time individuals enter the field of accounting until the day they retire.”
Applications are accepted each year from students currently pursuing accounting at an accredited college or university within the U.S. with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
