Mentor’s cohesive gel implants, more popularly known as “gummy bear” implants, are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for breast augmentation in women at least 22 years old and for breast reconstruction. The approval, which was announced by Mentor Worldwide, LLC, on June 14, 2013 is based on ten years of data from 955 women who participated in the clinical trial.
According to Mentor, clinical trial participants experienced high satisfaction rates, with 97 percent of patients reporting that they would repeat the procedure.
