Survey: Test Prep on the Go, the Way of the Future
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Over half of pre-law students say they plan to select a mobile app to prepare for the LSAT, according to a new survey conducted by TestMax, a Silicon Beach-based start-up and leader in comprehensive test prep courses on mobile platforms. Enrolling in a traditional in-class course to prepare for the LSAT received only 43% of the vote.
Of the 57% who said they would buy or use a mobile app to study for the LSAT, 79% indicated they were selecting a mobile app because the app is always available. Seventy-four percent said they liked that they could use the app to study whenever they have a free moment. Thirty-three percent of students surveyed said a mobile app was more cost effective than traditional options (Note: survey respondents were not limited to just one answer on this question).
"Students moving towards mobile app-based prep courses is not surprising," said Mehran Ebadolahi, CEO of TestMax and graduate of Harvard Law School. "Our apps address all the inefficiencies that pervade the traditional in-class model—price, accessibility, convenience, quality of instruction, ability to customize, and length of access."
TestMax's LSAT prep course, LSATMax—the first and only comprehensive LSAT prep course available on mobile—has been receiving rave reviews.
When Curtis Hinca used LSATMax to prepare for the February 2013 LSAT, his score jumped 10 points. "Before using LSATMax, I spent close to $1,400 on Kaplan's 'LSAT Advantage On-Site' program thinking that an in-person approach would be the best way for me to learn the strategies necessary to score well on the LSAT. However, I was completely wrong," said Hinca. "I can't say enough about how happy I was with [LSATMax]. Without LSATMax, I would not have been accepted into my dream school, and I have no doubt that the 10-point increase made all the difference."
Another LSATMax success story comes from Jackson Minasian. "I tried LSATMax after my attempt with TestMaster's online equivalent brought my score from a 154 to a 158. LSATMax was different in all the right ways. LSATMax used a simplistic approach in distinguishing question types, and the lessons were delivered in a blackboard format that simulated an actual classroom," Minasian said. "I ended up with a 167 on the actual test…I worked hard, but the team at LSATMax put me in a position to succeed and I wouldn't be here without them."
"These survey results make it clear that the scare tactics used by entrenched incumbents to dissuade students from relying on mobile apps are not working," said Ebadolahi. "Mobile app prep courses make too much sense, so we fully expect the percentage of students using them to continue to rise."
