Surviving Sandy Book Seeks Corporate Sponsors
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) January 26, 2014 -- Surviving Sandy is a 300-page book that details the historic Superstorm, highlights the heroes, and explains the rebuilding. One hundred percent of the proceeds are being donated to charities engaged in the ongoing relief efforts. So far, five charities have received $1,000 checks including: Tunnels to the Towers, New York Says Thank You, NJ Rebuilds, FDNY foundation and the Red Cross. In less than two months, the Surviving Sandy book team sold more than 10,000 copies.
"We are so proud of the success of our team," says Arne Ewing, “But we want to do more. We want every school and library in Sandy- affected areas to own a piece of this history and to empower young people to be true survivors."
The Surviving Sandy book was created from the hearts of students at Pascack Valley Learning Center in Airmont, New York. Many of the students were affected by the storm. The students - in grades 3-12 - helped gather stories. Parents were able to obtain funding to put the book together. Professional journalists - including Emmy-award-winning Mia Toschi - were contacted to help gather photos and stories and oversee the content. Four Color Planet designed the book.
The book has been featured on Good Day New York, WPIX, and numerous other stations. The hosts of 101.5 in New Jersey called Surviving Sandy a"must have" for anyone who survived the storm. Bob Depietri of Ortley, New Jersey lost his home and is currently rebuilding. He says he bought the book for his friends and family for the holidays because he knows that the money is helping others.
The Surviving Sandy book team says they are selling the book in Barnes and Noble, local bookstores and online at http://www.survivingsandybook.com. They are hoping some foundations and corporations will see the educational value of this book and help us to "pay it forward" and continue to help families and business rebuild in the New Year.
"It's 15 months after Sandy and there are still thousands of people who are still not home," says Mia Toschi who has covered Hurricanes Katrina, Irene and Sandy, and was in Union Beach, New Jersey during the storm. "The devastation is still massive and the survivors can't be forgotten."
