SEK will be posting regular series of infotainment videos focusing on ways that the public can adopt a sustainable, greener lifestyle and help Planet Earth. Some are aimed at children, others at grown-ups.
“We can hardly wait to put out fun and relevant content on YouTube for children and their families to enjoy and learn from,” says Gina Guia, founder and executive director of SEK. “Our videos are unique because we feature children to teach their peers, making them super kid friendly.”
One video encourages creativity with arts and crafts by repurposing and “upcycling” materials, giving them new life instead of disposing them in landfills. “The curious minds will enjoy cool, show-and-tell videos on eco-technology,” adds Guia.
Videos for grown-ups will tackle the urgent issue of water shortage due to major droughts. “We will be placing an emphasis on water conservation with simple tips on how to save water in our daily lives,” says Guia.
Along with the YouTube Channel, social media platforms and a blog were added to compliment SEK’s mission including consumer awareness. “We want people to be selective and avoid using toxic products that are harmful for their health and the environment,” states Guia.
Our goals are to educate on reducing ecological footprint; conserving and improving the responsible use of energy, water and other natural resources; and raising awareness on critical environmental issues and the fair treatment of animals,” says Guia.
SEK has several components, including workshops for schools and community presentations adopting the curriculum from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as film screenings, theatrical plays and other special events. A television program is also on the works and SEK recently presented their first local Youth Community event on April 18th in celebration of Earth Day.
