Swizzle Launches “Party Dating” Service in Orange County

It aims to put daters in the middle of a real-world gathering where anyone could be a great love match.
Adam Andersen, the company’s founder and former executive of eMachines and Gateway computers, came up with the idea because he was tired of the lack of human interaction on traditional dating sites. “You make a profile and then you get the privilege of spending hours trawling through other people’s profiles,” said Andersen. “You send a message, maybe they reply, maybe they don’t. It’s all very artificial. Humans were not designed to find love through a computer.”
Using the service is easy. Daters go to http://www.swizzledating.com and fill out a short survey about who they are and what they are looking for. After that, the service matches them to other Swizzlers and sends invitations to parties designed especially for them, which they are free to attend or not. The matching service is free, but each event has a cover charge that varies depending on the type of event—generally about the same cost as a normal date.
“We’ve made the process as simple as possible,” said Andersen. “We want the technology to get out of the way so we can get people meeting in the real world rather than emailing and winking. We also know everyone’s busy, so we are reducing the time and risk involved in dating by letting singles mingle with other compatible singles in a hosted, comfortable setting.”
The new service is currently only available in Orange County, but the company hopes to expand quickly as more people join.
“The reaction has been extremely positive so far,” said Andersen. “Now we are trying to get the word out so we can match more people and throw more parties. We just want to help, and there’s no better way to make people happy than by helping them find love.”
