Swords of Insurgency Launches Post-Apocalyptic Action Web Series Pilot at SpartaCon
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 29, 2015 -- Swords of Insurgency, a new post-apocalyptic action web series received recent news that their pilot episode will be screened at this year’s SpartaCon, “a fan-driven convention for enthusiasts of Spartacus, 300, Xena, and other similar TV series and movies.“ The convention is taking place August 15th and 16th at the Blue Crabs Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland.
To generate more excitement, SOI has pre-released its pilot to the press and blogging community, and it has been very well received.
Luke Abbott from Oracle of Film states that SOI is a “high octane martial arts thriller, miles away from any other independent production I have seen in my ventures in the world of indie film-making.”
Swords of Insurgency received great marks for its fighting scenes, choreographed by Dylan Hintz of the DC Stunt Coalition and James Couche of Red Betta Films.
John Fuller from TechZWN said that “Swords of Insurgency is Violent, Exciting, and Artistic. It’s an action-packed show with plenty of martial arts, but it also has an artistic side that makes it more than just a hack-and-slash flick.”

Swords of Insurgency is doing something different with crowdfunding. Instead of launching a Kickstarter campaign to ask contributors to gamble on whether or not they can make something good, they have already produced a highly rated episode and are now just asking for help to continue their work.
Backers that pledge $10 or more to their Kickstarter will get to watch the first episode right away. Michael Neal said that "Swords of Insurgency stands out because we have already delivered a well reviewed first episode, backers can have confidence they are supporting a worthwhile project." Michael continues “We set the minimum to $6,000 but we really hope to raise many times that so we can make an entire season or more. With $30,000 we can make a 5 episode season that will blow viewers away.”
In the pilot, decades have passed since the great apocalypse destroyed civilization. The world has now become a reincarnation of the dark ages, warlords rule and fight for domination.
Swords of Insurgency was shot with Canon 5D Mark III cameras to maximize the film aesthetic as well as the flexibility to shoot faster and in tighter spaces like small prison cells. “Good cinematography and good writing is what usually sets apart big budget productions from indie films. My focus from the beginning has been making sure we had these elements. As a photographer the quality of the image has been at the forefront, and also that the imagery tells a great story” said Director Michael Neal.
