Sydney Knego Named First Team All-State Lacrosse Attack Player for Virginia
Loudoun, VA (PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- Sydney Knego, who has just completed her junior year at Potomac Falls High School, has been named First Team All-State Lacrosse Attack Player for 5A public schools in Virginia.
She was named Player of the Year in Girls Lacrosse for 2015 in Conference 14, comprised of six high schools in Loudoun County. Playing attack for the Potomac Falls Panthers for the past three years, she was also selected to the All-Region Team for Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington counties as Offensive Player of the Year and received an All-Met Offensive Player Honorable Mention.
“Sydney is just an extremely dynamic athlete,” says Jim Birks, Potomac Falls High School Lacrosse Coach for the past two years. “Her quickness is unparalleled on the field. Her stick skills, along with her shot placement, are excellent. Nobody can catch her. Even if they do, she can still get a shot off and score!”
“I’ve coached Sydney for six years,” says Birks. “I was her first coach at the youth level. I know her game very well.” Sydney started playing seven years ago in the Algonkian Tribe Club in Loudoun County. She played for five years in the Northern Virginia Lacrosse League and was part of the 2011 Championship Team that went undefeated in the Northern Virginia Youth League.
In 2014, she was chosen to play for the Brine National Lacrosse Classic with the Washington DC team. She plays club lacrosse summer and fall. She has been named First Team All-District for the past three years. Sydney holds scoring records at Potomac Falls High School with 108 goals for the season and 12 goals in one game.
