Syntermed announces availability of transaxial reorientation as part of Emory Toolbox 4.0
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 05, 2015 -- Syntermed, Inc. announces the availability of a new software feature within Emory Toolbox 4.0, transaxial reorientation. Many of the new software tools within Emory Toolbox (ECTb) 4.0 are designed to take SPECT and PET myocardial perfusion imaging to higher levels of clinical proficiency.
"Emory Toolbox version 4.0 is built on a .NET architecture and that foundation is enabling our Syntermed software development team to bring our strong pipeline of new features to the market more quickly,” says Ken Van Train, President, Syntermed, Inc.
Emory Toolbox 4.0 is designed to help nuclear cardiologists maintain high quality interpretations and deliver high value reports in less time as well as maximize workflow efficiency. To this end Emory Toolbox 4.0 now includes two notable features: Transaxial reorientation and Post-Facto Reorientation.
Syntermed's transaxial reorientation tool is especially helpful to the nuclear cardiology technologist as he or she is preparing the study for clinical interpretation. "It is common practice to reorient the transaxial SPECT or PET images into short-axis images," says David Cooke, Director of Clinical Applications, Syntermed, Inc. "The new Emory Toolbox 4.0 transaxial reorientation software feature provides an improved workflow over earlier versions of the Toolbox.”
"Overall, Emory Toolbox 4.0 with Syntermed IDS™ delivers a higher level of clinical decision support and workflow efficiency. For example, transaxial reorientation allows the user to easily select the proper axes to minimize artifacts and ensure accuracy prior to interpretation by the clinician," adds Ron Fuller, Manager of Applications Support, Syntermed, Inc.
Another very popular workflow efficiency feature of the new Emory Toolbox 4.0 is Post-Facto reorientation. "Physicians have commented how beneficial it is to be able to tweak angles for both SPECT and PET tomogram misalignment during image interpretation in real time. This means the physician can modify the study to his liking without the need to reprocess the study," says Fuller. "Post-Facto reorientation improves the quality of the study without adding time to the process. Nuclear cardiology is at a better place because of this feature."
A core benefit of the new Emory Toolbox 4.0 program is Syntermed IDS™ because it generates a comprehensive interpretation within Emory Toolbox using over 230 rules to evaluate perfusion, reversibility, function, and patient demographics. Additional information is incorporated into the interpretation (if available) and includes prone versus supine image results, attenuation corrected versus non-attenuation corrected image results, and quality control data. The overall result of the new Emory Toolbox 4.0 is increased confidence and faster reporting.
"One of the bigger differences Emory Toolbox (ECTb) 4.0 customers will notice are SmartScores which can be applied to the interpretation as an adjunctive clinical decision support tool," says Cooke. "This is a significant change from earlier ECTb versions, yet our beta-tests have demonstrated that SmartScores can enhance the overall consistency of the report and in many cases red flag areas of the study that warrant further interpretation. Users of the new Emory Toolbox 4.0 and Syntermed IDS are discovering its inherent adaptability across all nuclear cardiology imaging modalities." About Emory Toolbox 4.0: This nuclear cardiology software program was developed with funding from a National Institutes of Health STTR Fast Track grant R42HL106818, under the direction of Ernest V. Garcia, PhD, a professor of cardiac imaging and the director of Emory University’s Nuclear Cardiology R&D Laboratory, and Kenneth Van Train, the president of Syntermed, Inc. To help meet the IAC guidelines, Syntermed collaborated with Lawrence Klein, MD, of POSMEDIC, LLC, to develop the new reporting platform for Emory Toolbox 4.0 called SmartReport™. Emory Toolbox (ECTb) v4.0 was rebuilt from the ground up with a .NET multi-core architecture, parallel processing and web/cloud interface and conforms to the upgraded security standards of the latest Windows® Operating Systems while providing a familiar user experience from a PC desktop or laptop. With Syntermed IDS™, ECTb 4.0 seamlessly expedites the sharing of HIPPA-compliant archival of reports and 3D images using a remote reading, around-the-clock access Syntermed Live™ Cloud program solution. Emory Toolbox is a trademark of Emory University.
