Syracuse Holistic Chamber of Commerce Announces "Top Ten Blunders of Holistic Businesses"
Munnsville, NY (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- When Tim Emerson, owner of Kwan Yin Healing, agreed to bring the Holistic Chamber of Commerce to Syracuse, NY, he knew there was a wealth of talented businesses and practitioners in the region. He also knew they had seen good times come and go.
“I wanted to offer something more than just an invitation,” shares Emerson. “So I did the same thing I would do for clients,” he continues. “I asked myself what they would appreciate right now, first thing, so we can start our association from a point of value.”
He called in a few associates specializing in working with holistic businesses – Tad Hargrave of “Marketing for Hippies,” and Mark Silver of “Heart of Business” – the first on marketing holistic business, and the second on effective networking.
Emerson and Hargrave sat down and recorded an 84 minute interview on the “Top Ten Mistakes Holistic Businesses Make.” “Tad and I have seen the same mistakes over and over, and that’s unfortunate. People go into holistic businesses to make a real difference in the world, in people’s lives. It’s a shame when they don’t realize the impact they really could be making. This is a good start toward reaching that better vision.”
“The other mistake I see frequently is networking mistakes,” explains Emerson. “People print a bunch of business cards, and pass them out at events to other business owners. Everyone’s selling. No one’s buying. And no one is talking to a viable market.” Enter Mark Silver’s article, “When Networking Events Feel Like a Drag.”
“When they become opportunities for building relationship, rather than sales calls, long term associations and opportunities arise—as well as making marketing a lot more fun,” adds Emerson.

What they need are a central hub of support.”
Education is also high on the new chapter’s agenda. “Often people are unsure what these businesses do, or they aren’t aware this rich range of opportunities exist in this area. Bridging that gap, fitting the right clients with the right businesses, will be a big part of our work moving forward.”
