System76 (Computer Manufacturer) Releases AR Game to Disable Haywire Robots

Considering everything from their company swag to their laptop stickers focuses on robots, they know a thing or two about bots, droids, and automatons alike. And, while their company hasn’t begun building robots themselves, their Ubuntu laptops definitely benefit from sleek design and advanced tech. However, System76 has a new kind of project this holiday season: stopping their own rebel robots.
While for some companies the holiday shipping robots going rogue may be a bad thing, System76 is making wild bots fun with their Roguebots game promotion. The promotion, which will last throughout the holidays, includes the Roguebots augmented reality game in every purchase of a System76 laptop or desktop computer. The game, also known as a “robot disabler kit”, is centered around fixing the miscreant robots.
In addition to the game, System76 has completely redone their website to reflect the promotion. Beginning on Tuesday, November 22nd, the System76 website will feature their iconic robots going absolutely haywire. The landing page for Roguebots will also give some backstory to the many bots that require rebooting.
However, unlike the large number of robots you’ll need to fix, there’s only a limited supply of the game itself. With one copy of Roguebots included per order this holiday season, keep in mind that the game is only available while supplies last. After all, there’s only so many erratic robots to go around!
In addition to the fun and addictive gameplay, Roguebots will also feature some catchy background tunes. With music composed by Randy Washington of synth dance group Total Ghost (a band favored by none other than Elon Musk himself), you’ll have the perfect soundtrack for saving the world from malfunctioning bots just in time for the holidays.
