T. Collins’ new book tells readers ‘It’s Not About You’
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- Author, physician, scientist and teacher T. Collins believes mankind was made for one purpose: glorifying God. Furthermore, he believes much of mankind – including evangelical Christians – is under the impression that all of creation is made for the purpose of pleasing them. Collins says that this, to put it simply, is wrong.
Collins brings readers what he sees as “basically the Gospel” in his new book “It’s Not About You” (published by CrossBooks), which discusses the steps to truly surrendering one’s sense of self.
“Our society is increasingly superficial and fake,” Collins says. “People are tired of playing the games and wearing the masks we all wear. We all want to be real.”
As the title implies, “It’s Not About You” aims to help readers understand that life is not about them, but about God and His glory. Collins hopes to accomplish this by taking a stance he believes to be more approachable, with the simple message that all people are failures and must realize the magnitude of God’s grace.
An excerpt from “It’s Not About You”:
“I am the ultimate spiritual failure with nothing of worth to offer. That’s what denying myself means—that admittance. When I arrive at that place, the place of the poor in spirit, then I am ready to receive God’s overwhelming grace, and in that, I have come full circle. In that, it becomes not about me, but about God and His glory … and that is what it’s all about.”
