T.E.N. CEO Marci McCarthy Heads to DC to Advocate for IT Sector
ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) February 10, 2015 -- This week, Marci McCarthy, CEO & President for T.E.N., will join TechAmerica to advocate for IT sector priorities on Capitol Hill during the organization’s annual fly-in to Washington, D.C. TechAmerica, the public sector and public advocacy department of CompTIA, works to provide a voice to tech companies on Capitol Hill.
As a TechAmerica DC Fly-In participant, McCarthy will be meeting with congressional and industry leaders about policies that develop skills for the 21st century workforce, advance tax and regulatory policies that spur innovation, lead in secure internet-based platform technologies, support new and emerging technology platforms through policies, address availability and delivery of broadband communications, expand markets and advocate for sensible rules of global trade, and advance common sense reforms in government procurement and acquisition. McCarthy’s key areas of focus will be on emerging cybersecurity legislation, data breach notification policy and net neutrality.
“As threats against this nation through corporate cyber-attacks continue to escalate, it is more important than ever that we support emerging technology platforms through thoughtful polices and that we further evaluate the importance of threat data sharing,” said McCarthy. “I look forward to contributing to the evolving policy debates and champion these causes for the information technology and security industries.”
After more than a decade of empowering information security executives via the Information Security Executive® of the Year Awards and Program Series, McCarthy said she looks forward to championing the issues that impact her many esteemed executive connections and industry partners. She will work closely with TechAmerica to support the 2015 priorities.
“As the tech sector grapples with the implementation of 2015 Congressional priorities, TechAmerica will continue to facilitate open discourse between legislators and technology companies of all sizes,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA. “Through a balanced, multi-policy approach that incorporates the needs of hiring businesses, Congress can boost economic growth nationwide.”
The Fly-In runs February 10-11, 2015. For more information on TechAmerica's advocacy efforts, visit http://www.techamerica.org.
