Tablets Take Over US Workplaces, Reveals Latest DeskAlerts Study
(PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- Mobile connectivity is reshaping the face of contemporary business, and the latest research from DeskAlerts has revealed that tablets are fronting the trend. A new study from the web based corporate messaging solutions provider has uncovered that between 2012 and 2013, the adoption of tablets within US businesses grew by a huge 120%. Furthermore, analysts are predicting that the mobile revolution will continue to expand, with an additional 74.8% increase by the end of 2018.
Anton Vdovin, Project Manager at DeskAlerts, “We always knew that America’s boardrooms are becoming increasingly mobile however we weren’t able to pinpoint the extent of trend, or whether workers preferred smartphones or tablets. Our new research has categorically confirmed that tablets are now playing an integral role in 21st century workplaces, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.”
Interestingly, while 64% of surveyed businesses permitted BYOD schemes, just 38% offered employees IT support for mobile devices. This suggests that US employees may be one step ahead of US businesses when it comes to reaping the benefits of tablets. That said, surveyed companies did display a positive attitude when it came to supporting tablet adoption. 53% of managers maintained that they expected the arrival of tablets to enhance workplace productivity across the board.
When questioned on how tablets are used in the workplace, 94% of employees identified checking email as the key application. 54% of employees utilised tablets for social networking purposes while 52% leveraged them as a presentation tool. For businesses wanting to encourage employees to use tablets for commercial activities rather than as communication platforms, DeskAlerts is a savvy solution. By offering workers access to a centralized and managed corporate messaging system, managers can free up tablets and reserve them for other, more industrious activities.
Vdovin says, “Tablets bring a myriad of benefits to the modern workplace however managers wanting to really leverage the technology should be encouraging employees to use them the right way. Integrating DeskAlerts pop-up notification software into internal communications strategies will eliminate the need to use tablets as a platform for checking email, and reserve them for more productive applications such as delivering presentations.”
Rather than have employees constantly check tablets for new emails or social media updates, DeskAlerts allows managers to send pop-up desktop notifications directly to PCs. DeskAlerts also supports the distribution of content in scrolling ticker format or as a corporate screensaver or wallpaper. From issuing emergency alerts and circulating company updates to sending general CEO messages and requesting feedback, DeskAlerts is an interactive and non-intrusive way for managers to communicate with a workforce, at their fingertips.
