Tachodisc have been asked by several operators about the proposed speed limit changes for HGV vehicles and if tachographs will be affected.
(PRWEB UK) 18 February 2015 -- The simple answer is NO - the calibrated speed set on the tachograph has no direct relevance to national speed limits.
The current motorway speed limit for a HGV is already 60mph and 50mph for dual carriage ways. Therefore, because there is already a limit of 60 in the UK nothing changes as far as the tachograph is concerned.
The tachograph has no notion of whether the vehicle is on a motorway or dual carriage way. If for example a tachograph is currently calibrated to 56mph, this is the choice of the operator – and if it is driven on the motorway at 58mph (which is perfectly legal) it would be flashing now.
