Take a Steam Powered Adventure to Visit a Railroad Logging Camp
Mineral, WA (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- For nearly 40 years visitors have enjoyed leisurely paced train rides through the forest and foothills south of Mount Rainier along the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad. Visitors from around the world climb aboard living history to experience the Railroad’s rare, vintage locomotives. In 2013, this heritage railroad debuted Phase 1 of its new Railroad Logging Camp museum project and offered visitors the chance to explore the world’s most comprehensive collection of steam logging locomotives on display. On July 19, the organization will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil Phase 2 of its 5 phase museum plan.
“When most people conjure up an image of a railroad logging camp they envision a lumberjack. What people don’t realize is men and women and in some cases families called these camps home,” said Meilee Anderson, Sales and Marketing Director for the railroad. “Most people have never heard of a steam donkey before, let alone seen one. The new exhibits are a fascinating and nostalgic look back at what life was like for these pioneers,” said Anderson.
“We’re proud to deliver a new guest experience that combines entertainment and education for multiple generations,” said Wayne Rankin, Executive Director of the railroad and museum. Rankin joins the nonprofit railroad and museum after 14 years of experience with Disney. “There has never been a better time to visit. We have a fun afternoon planned on July 19. Folks are invited to come for the ribbon cutting, tour the exhibits, and see the improvements we’ve made to our guest experience.”
