Taking Steps to Find a Cure and Promote Awareness
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- On Friday, July 12, 2013, Equity Trust proudly participated in the Elyria, Ohio Chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, continuing a company tradition that started in 2007.
The 2013 Elyria Relay for Life event consisted of 23 teams with a total of 393 participants. The Equity Trust team had 32 employees continuously walking from Friday, July, 12, 2013 at 10:00am to Saturday morning at 7:00am. During that time, our team walked 374 laps which equated to 93.5 miles, or the distance from our Elyria headquarters to Erie, PA.
A total donation of $3,858.02 was raised by selling luminaries, getting sponsors, and selling raffle tickets for the raffle baskets created by departments within Equity Trust and displayed at the event. As a bonus to cancer survivors who attended this year, each survivor attendee received 2 free raffle tickets for the opportunity to win a raffle basket of their choice.
Relay for Life is one of the world’s largest events to raise funds and awareness for cancer. Every year, communities across the country organize to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life program. Created in 1985 with the first event raising $27,000 to fight cancer, this now worldwide phenomenon has lead to $4.5 billion in fundraising to save lives from cancer, as well as providing inspiration, hope, and awareness for millions of cancer survivors, caregivers, and their communities.
