Tallac, Elbrys, and Brocade Demonstrate SDN Solution for K-12 Education Customer
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2015 -- Tallac, a pioneer in cloud-based software-defined networking, and Elbrys, an SDN Application and Open Daylight Developer, today announced an integration of the Tallac LAN-as-a-Service solution, the Brocade SDN Controller, the Brocade vRouter and the Elbrys SDN School Application for K-12 that will be demonstrated at this year’s Open Networking Summit, ONS 2015.
Tallac and Elbrys are changing how networks are managed and controlled to meet the unique needs of end users on enterprise campus networks. Software Defined Networking (SDN) enables business applications to exploit the control of cloud managed Wi-Fi and wired networks to automate network policy based on business intelligence. Business-focused applications from Elbrys running atop of the Brocade SDN Controller, coupled with the Tallac LAN-as-a-Service solution, allow Managed Service Providers to deploy network solutions that greatly improve the end-user networking experience.
“It is really exciting to see SDN applications interact with people outside of IT, like teachers. But it is even more exciting to imagine Managed Service Providers monetizing these applications at scale as cloud-based services offered on a monthly subscription,” commented Bill Johnson, CEO of Tallac Networks.
At ONS 2015, Tallac and Elbrys will be demonstrating the power of its LAN-as-a-Service solution interoperating with the Brocade SDN Controller and the Brocade vRouter. The solutions showcase will illustrate the value of orchestrating campus LANs, including Wi-Fi, Switches and Firewalls, along with cloud-hosted Virtual Network Functions and SDN applications from a single pane of glass. In addition, the demonstration integrates the Brocade vRouter as a Virtual Network Function (VNF) with Tallac’s LAN-as-a-Service solution to enable multi-site VPN services for branch offices. We will also highlight the ease of adding compelling SDN business applications to campus LANs with the Elbrys SDN School Application running atop of both the Elbrys ODL Controller and the Brocade SDN Controller. The two controllers, both distributions of OpenDaylight, demonstrate the promise of seamless control-plane interoperability that comes with open source SDN.
“The Tallac/Elbry solution is an excellent example of how end-user customers can reap the benefits of SDN, without the usual complexities of deployment. We see innovative new apps and services like this as the next step in SDN market growth,” said Kevin Woods, director of product management, Software Networking at Brocade. “We’re proud to have the Brocade SDN Controller as part of the Tallac/Elbry solution.”
The ONS Solution Showcase demonstration will focus on the Elbrys SDN School Application for K-12, which puts the power of the Internet in the hands of a school’s most valuable resource – the teachers themselves. Teachers are able to monitor dynamic lists of approved web resources integrated with 3rd party Learning Management Systems (LMS) and influence student engagement outcomes based on the unique needs of students to ensure participation levels are always on track.
“As an SDN developer most recently working on healthcare and energy IoT applications, we arrived at SDN with a focus on the end-users, their interactions and helping them achieve specific goals through data analysis,” said Jim Burns, CTO of Elbrys Networks. “We are pleased that the Tallac campus SDN platform based on Brocade allowed us to create an application developer solution to work with a user’s online network traffic similar to their offline IoT data streams and provide tools for teachers and students to achieve their goals within the classroom.”
Come see us at ONS 2015 – our demonstration will be running as part of the Solutions Showcase, as well as in the Tallac booth #414 on the Expo floor. Also available are private demos tailored to meet the needs of your organization or customer base – please contact us to schedule yours.
