Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic Announces Its Sponsorship of the Making Strides of Leon Walk
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (PRWEB) October 05, 2015 -- The Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic will sponsor Making Strides of Leon on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The 3.1-mile walk, nationally known as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, starts at 3 p.m. at 1001 South Gadsden Street in Cascade Park.
Through the years, some 400 Leon County participants and 135 teams have raised nearly $18 million for the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer.
"Year in and year out, Making Strides of Leon proves itself to be an inspirational and effective force in combating breast cancer," said Dr. Harper, one of three board-certified plastic surgeons at Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic. "It brings participants and supporters together to take action and symbolizes the emotional commitment each of us makes to complete the battle against breast cancer."
The event's check-in tent opens at 1 p.m. Participants who have registered online can bring additional cash and check donations. Those who have not yet registered can complete a registration form and turn in any donations at the tent, where all cash donations and checks are accepted.
Details on where teams should gather are forthcoming. There will be a survivor tent for breast cancer survivors where the American Cancer Society will also present information on their programs and services.
The event is not a race. Participants need not complete the entire walk, which will conclude when the final walker crosses the finish line. To be announced are details regarding the survivors' reception, the opening ceremony, and scheduled entertainment.
Participants that raise $100 or more receive a 2015 commemorative event T-shirt.
The event unfolds rain or shine. Wheelchairs, wagons, strollers, and walkers are welcome. Bicycles and pets are not allowed.
