Tampa Preparatory School Internationally Recognized As An Apple Distinguished School For the Second Time

(PRWEB) April 21, 2017 -- Tampa Preparatory School has been internationally recognized by Apple Inc. as one of the most innovative schools in the world as an Apple Distinguished School for the second time. In 2014, Tampa Prep became the first Apple Distinguished School in the Tampa Bay area, and is now the only school in the area to receive the designation two consecutive times. This year, Apple Inc. recognized only twelve public and private schools in the entire state of Florida as Apple Distinguished Schools and Tampa Prep is proud to be among the company of these eleven other schools. In addition, 30 Tampa Prep teachers have earned the Apple Teacher designation.

To be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, Apple Inc. looks at their six best practices of exemplary learning environments, which include:

  • Visionary leadership
  • Infrastructure that supports an Apple Learning Environment
  • One-to-One access to Apple computers and/or mobile devices for all students, teachers and administrators
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Systems to routinely collect quantitative evidence highlighting success
  • Sustainability of their academic programs.

To receive this international recognition for a second time, Tampa Preparatory School updated its iBook submission to include details about its impressive Upper School renovation that created school-wide Active Learning Environments, a comprehensive list of concrete examples of integration of Apple tools in the curriculum and extracurricular endeavors, overview of the School’s STEM and makerspace program, contributions to the global community and much more. Since being the first school in the Tampa Bay area to receive this amazing recognition, Tampa Prep has continued to further our efforts to continue to do “what’s best for students.” After completing a long process of difficult testing, 29 employees have been designated by Apple Inc. as Apple Teachers. In addition, Tampa Prep has recently expanded our Flipped Classroom to allow for more personalization in our students’ learning. Students have truly embraced the ease with which they are able to utilize Apple technology.
