TangoTab Announces Partnership with The Mike Modano Foundation
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- In his illustrious professional hockey career, retired great Mike Modano holds the record for the most points and goals scored by a U.S.-born player. Now, he is shooting for another career high: helping to feed the hungry, as he partners with TangoTab to encourage everyone to score a goal in the fight against hunger – simply by dining out.
“Hunger affects families in untold ways,” said Modano. “Consider the number of kids who go to bed hungry every night, or parents that have to choose between food or medicine It sickens us to think that this occurs right under our noses, right here in North Texas. It’s in our cities, in our neighborhoods. We have the power to change this, to help feed hungry children, the ability to make a difference, and I’m encouraging everyone to help.” Mike and the team at The Mike Modano Foundation continually devote their time and energy to support programs assisting children in need of social, medical, educational or protective services.
Mike is encouraging his thousands of friends, fans and followers to help him feed children in need by downloading and using TangoTab, a free app, on their smart phones. The app features local restaurant deals, which allow people to save money and increase traffic for restaurant. By using promo code “Modano” when they register, diners can redeem deals (for a free item, a discounted price, etc.), and TangoTab donates to Mike’s foundation. With this ‘hat trick,’ diners save money, restaurants get traffic, and Mike can help at risk kids have a meal, too.
Simply put: When you eat, they eat.
To date, consumers have taken the fight against hunger into their own hands by redeeming deals that have enabled TangoTab to donate more than 200,000 meals to people in need – and that number is growing exponentially. All donations stay in the local area, and, in DFW, the North Texas Food Bank and Minnie’s Food Pantry are beneficiaries.
“Besides being an all-time great hockey player, Mike Modano is also a generous businessman who supports initiatives that have the power to make change,” said Andre Angel, founder and CEO of TangoTab, a “philanthrepeneur” who is putting his business acumen to good use to benefit consumers, the restaurant industry, and the 50.1 million Americans who go to bed hungry each night. “We say, ‘When you eat, they eat.’ Americans eat more than a billion meals in restaurants every week – if we do the math and do the work, we can solve the crisis of hunger in America. We are excited that someone like Mike is supporting us in this cause.”
