Target Corporation Sponsors In-Culture Leadership Workshop for Hispanics on June 24-25
Irvine, California (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- Target Corporation has announced that it will be sponsoring an intensive two-day workshop for Hispanic professionals in Minneapolis, MN, on June 24-25, 2015. The University of St. Thomas will be hosting the event, called “Discover Your Leadership Impact and Influence,” which has become the flagship leadership program from Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL) Academy. At the helm, facilitator Glenn Llopis, a nationally recognized thought leader, best-selling author and contributing writer to Forbes, Harvard Business Review and the Huffington Post, the CHL Academy workshop has successfully helped thousands of Latino recent graduates and working professionals to accelerate their visibility and leadership advancement in the workplace.
“Target continues to sponsor this high-impact training for Hispanic students and professionals due to the growing demand for Hispanic talent and leaders as well as the high marks this workshop consistently garners from past participants,” says Caroline Wanga, Director of Diversity and Inclusion. “The CHL Academy curriculum is unique in that it enables Hispanics to see their cultural values as sources of strength rather than barriers to advancement, and teaches them to harness their natural tendencies and innate skills to advance their careers, develop their leadership capabilities, and perform at higher levels to contribute more wholly to the success of the organization.”
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Hispanics will make up nearly 20% of the labor force in just three years. This rapid growth calls for organizations across all industries to prepare for the cultural demographic shift™ with culturally-relevant education and training in order to increase the talent pipeline of Hispanic employees and their opportunities for advancement into more senior leadership roles.
“At the same time, Hispanics must awaken their full potential and overcome the identity crisis being perpetrated in the workplace – albeit unknowingly – by learning to live their cultural values and authentic selves at work,” says CHL Academy Founder Glenn Llopis. “CHL’s cultural characteristics framework is a proven formula and roadmap to greater success; we have seen time and again that when Hispanics enable the natural ways they think, act, and innovate, they are able to lead more effectively and authentically, accelerate their leadership potential, and advance themselves and their careers.”
In addition to Target, CHL Academy workshops have delivered positive outcomes for Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola, Home Depot, PepsiCo and Walmart, and has received 100% approval rating from participants. The workshop experience provides more than 20 hours of in-person and pre-work instruction, and combines real-world workplace scenarios with “gamification” techniques to test and improve participants’ ability to lead authentically, make effective decisions, solve for the most promising opportunities, and enable the full potential in others.
Concludes Llopis: “When 95% of non-Hispanic supervisors are unaware how cultural values influence the fastest growing workforce in America – as our organization has revealed – it’s time to discover the impact and influence of Hispanics in the workplace. This workshop awakens the natural skills and cultural characteristics that too often lie dormant, but that are critical to overcoming the identity crisis that is holding back performance in the workplace and advancement into leadership positions for Hispanics.”
