Tarkett’s Johnsonite® BaseWorks™ Thermoset Rubber Wall Base Recognized as Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Bronze and Earns Silver Level Material Health Certificate
Solon, Ohio (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- In keeping with its ongoing commitment to closed-loop, circular design, Tarkett, the worldwide leader in innovative and sustainable flooring and sports surface solutions, today announced that its Johnsonite® BaseWorks™ Thermoset Rubber Wall Base was recently recognized as Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Bronze (C2C™) under Version 3.0. The product also earned a Silver level Material Health Certificate using the material health assessment methodology of the C2C Product Standard.
As part of Johnsonite’s fully integrated line of coordinating flooring solutions, finishing borders and accessories, BaseWorks Thermoset Rubber Wall Base has 2.3 percent rapidly renewable content and more than 98 percent in weight of the raw materials used in the product are assessed as “good materials.” With BaseWorks Theromoset Rubber Wall Base there is no exposure to carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction substances.
Additionally, the product has very low VOC emissions (less than 10 micrograms/m3) and is also recyclable as part of Tarkett’s ReStart™ Recycling and Reclamation Program. BaseWorks Thermoset Rubber Wall Base is manufactured in the United States in an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified plant, assuring quality and a positive environmental impact.
To achieve C2C Bronze Certification, BaseWorks Thermoset Rubber Wall Base had to fulfill a number of requirements in several categories, including: Material Health; Material Reutilization; Renewable Energy and Water Stewardship; and Social Fairness. The C2C Bronze recognition can be used to help projects with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) v4 credit achievement.
To receive the Material Health Certification – Silver level, BaseWorks Thermoset Rubber Wall Base had to meet a number of standards, including, but not limited to:
• Does not contain any Banned List chemicals.
• The product is at least 95 percent assessed (by weight) following the C2C material assessment methodology.
• The product contains no substances known or suspected to cause carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction.
