Teach for America Recruits Two Highland Hall Waldorf School Alumni for 2014
Northridge, CA (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- Two graduates of Highland Hall Waldorf School, class of 2010 have been admitted to Teach for America, the highly selective, national corps of teachers serving in low-income urban and rural areas and working to expand students' educational opportunities.
The Teach for America website states that the program "recruits top college graduates of all academic majors, career interests, and backgrounds who demonstrate achievement, leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to expanding opportunity for children in low-income areas." Kelly Grant and Adam Cohen, both Highland Hall alumni from the class of 2010, will graduate college this spring, (Northeastern University in Boston, and UC Berkeley, respectively), and join the group which admitted fewer than 15% to the program from among over 10,000 who applied. Ms. Grant will take a post in Miami, while Mr. Cohen heads for Indianapolis. These are two of the 46 regions across the United States.
"We are very proud of Kelly and Adam," says Highland Hall Administrative Director, Lynn Kern. "They exemplify the tradition of service we work to develop in our students, and we appreciate their commitment to making a difference in the world through education.”
