Teacher Created Materials Helps Feed Hungry Children to Support Positive Learning in the Classroom
Huntington Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 03, 2016 -- Teacher Created Materials, a leading preK–12 educational publisher located in Huntington Beach, California, is pleased to announce its participation in the KFI AM 640and Caterina's Club pasta-thon for the second year in a row.
Teacher Created Materials has served as a drop-off location for the past two weeks, allowing both community members and company employees to donate pasta and pasta sauce. This year, the company also implemented a competition among its employees to see which department could donate the most pounds of pasta and sauce. The prize is the coveted TCM Golden Apple award, as well as bragging rights around the office, of course.
As a company whose main objective is to support teachers and students, Teacher Created Materials knows how important it is for children to have nutritional meals every day. Studies show that students who miss meals and experience hunger are more likely to struggle academically and behaviorally in school. They are also more likely to struggle with tardiness and truancy and even to repeat a grade1.
“At Teacher Created Materials, our vision is to create a world in which children love to learn. Children cannot develop into lifelong learners and excel academically when they are hungry or worrying about where their next meal is going to come from,” said Deanne R. Mendoza, co-owner of Teacher Created Materials.
The pasta-thon ended on December 1, with a live broadcast from the KFI radio team at the Anaheim White House Restaurant in Anaheim, California. Owners Rachelle Cracchiolo and Deanne R. Mendoza were thrilled to participate in that on-air event, announcing the donation total of 725 pounds of pasta and sauce as well as $10,000 in support of Caterina’s Club! They were also able to share that the Client Service/Sales Operations department won the company contest, by donating 222 pounds of pasta and sauce.
