Team Abdallah Aims for Another Title Shot
Lockport, NY (PRWEB) January 14, 2016 -- It's said that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and that's exactly how Team Abdallah is reacting to the disappointing series of events that took place on Nov. 21, 2015. No. 2 world-ranked kickboxer, Amer Abdallah, and his team are regrouping for another world title shot in order to move on from past events.
Abdallah’s lifelong dream to capture the World Kickboxing Association World Championship fell through just two days before the bout took place due to his opponent failing to make the trip from Wales, United Kingdom to the U.S.
“We all have personal issues we deal with and no one really knows the reason for him not getting on the plane. I hope whatever it was that he was struggling with, he’s at peace. I have no hard feelings towards him," Abdallah said.
Team Abdallah is shooting for a May 14 date with a venue yet to be determined. The lack of location is not something he is worried about though.
“Obviously, we’d love to have the fight in Lockport, N.Y., but the business side of that has yet to be finalized,” he said.
Abdallah’s Las Vegas-based team, compromised of Kickboxing Coach Dewey Cooper, Boxing Coach Jeff Mayweather, Strength/Conditioning Coach Jeff Main & Team Manager Ahmed Imamovic, is optimistic and looking forward to the world title opportunity.
“We are past the disappointment and are only looking to move onward and upward,” Abdallah said.
In order to be more ready than ever, a plan for preparation is being put into play. Training camp for the May 14 fight is scheduled to open in early February.
“At this point, we don’t have an opponent or venue," Abdallah said. "All we know is the date is set and that’s all I need."
