Tech CEO Announces Run for Florida’s 1st Congressional District
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) December 12, 2015 -- A first generation Cuban-American Charles Thies, former CEO of Cloud View Technologies in Mary Esther, FL announced Thursday in Pensacola that he will run for Congress in the 1st District, as an independent candidate, hoping to unseat Republican Rep. Jeff Miller.
Charles dismayed by party politics and a dysfunctional Congress, with no term limits, and out of control spending said, “ today both major parties vote party line 90% of the time. During one of the most successful presidencies under Ronald Reagan, 55% of the time his Republican House and Senate members voted for Republican led bills and 45% of the time they “crossed over” to enact meaningful legislation that addressed our countries issues such as the Social Security Reform legislation in 1983 or the Tax Reform Act of 1986. Take a modern example such as Obamacare. Imagine if our Republican congress rather than vote 55 times to repeal Obamacare as more of a symbolic gesture in the last six years would have focused instead on making incremental modest changes to the legislation over the last six years. Would Obamacare today look more like the Republican alternative? I say yes. Will every attempt to make incremental change work? No. Gridlock and infighting has lead to no results from our elected officials”
Charles was born to an immigrant Cuban mother, a schoolteacher and his Father, a biologist. His mother fled the communist regime in Cuba for a better life in the land where she dreamed of immeasurable opportunity through consummate work. “My mother arrived in this country legally, the fact that millions cross our borders without a defined process are disturbing to my family, a secure northern and southern border are critical as well as a defined legal immigration process. Last week’s horrific events in San Bernardino and other recent attacks in other cities prove our national security and the safety of our families depend on it. ”
He is married to (Ret) Major Lea Thies, USAF a nurse practitioner and together they have four children. She is a partner at Primary Care House Calls a home health care organization in Pensacola, providing care for the disabled, disadvantaged and elderly population.
“Will incremental changes to our laws be better than laws adhering to strict party tenants that do not get enacted which is what has been happening for the last 15 years? Of Course. The American people are tired, very tired of the Stalemate in Washington. I am the candidate that will “go back in time” to effect change.”
