Technical Fault Blamed for Emergency Landing in Buckinghamshire
(PRWEB UK) 29 January 2014 -- A recent report from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch has revealed that the Sikorsky S-76C which was transporting the royals last May, made an emergency landing when passing Denham Aerodome last May.
Luckily the pilot managed to take control of the helicopter and land it safely when it started to take off to the side. No one was harmed and the royals made it to their destination only three hours behind schedule.
An internal leakage in the control system of the helicopter was blamed for the incident. Ongoing tests are still being carried out as to the root cause of the failure, but it is thought that problems during the manufacturing process may have been to blame.
Leading law firm, Accident Advice Helpline spoke about the incident by saying “in the last year or so, we seem to have seen a number of incidents involving helicopters in the news.”
He added “Luckily no one was injured in this particular incident last year, but recent incidents such as the disaster at the Clutha pub in Glasgow, where a police helicopter crashed into the roof of the building, were unfortunately not victimless.”
