Ted Edwards and Danielle Barbour Wilson Join The Banks Law Firm

Edwards joins the practice with a focus on commercial litigation and is a certified mediator, and Wilson joins the practice with a focus in business, commercial and employment litigation.
Ted Edwards:
Edwards chairs the firm’s litigation section. He counsels clients regarding various aspects of conflict avoidance, dispute resolution, and commercial litigation. He also has extensive experience in construction law and he regularly provides counsel to governmental entities, owners, engineers and contractors regarding construction project administration and construction litigation. Edwards has achieved Martindale-Hubbell’s highest “AV” (“Very High to Preeminent”) rating from his attorney peers. Prior to joining the firm, Edwards practiced as partner at Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP in Raleigh, NC. Edwards graduated from Duke University with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. He also received his Juris Doctor degree from the Duke University School of Law.
In 2002, Edwards was selected by Triangle Business Journal for its “40 Under 40” list that recognizes outstanding Research Triangle leaders under 40 years of age. In 2004, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly profiled him in its series on "Up and Coming Lawyers in North Carolina. In 2006, Edwards was awarded the William L. Thorpe Pro Bono Attorney Award by the North Carolina Bar Association, which recognizes attorneys who provide exceptional pro bono legal assistance to low-income citizens in North Carolina. In 2011, he was selected for the North Carolina Bar Association's Citizen Lawyer Award, which honors attorneys for exemplary public service activities. In 2012, Edwards served as President of the Wake County Bar Association. He is currently serving as a member of the North Carolina State Bar Council.
Danielle Barbour Wilson:
Wilson represents companies and local government entities in state and federal courts in a wide-range of business, commercial, and employment disputes. She represents public and private employers before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and assists employers litigating and defending claims of harassment; retaliation and discrimination on the basis of age, race, sex and disability; wrongful discharge; and breach of contract. In addition to her defense practice, Wilson also assists transitioning executives and professionals in employment disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Wilson practiced at Poyner Spruill LLP in Raleigh, NC. She also interned for Judge Donald L. Graham of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Wilson graduated with honors from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration and Planning and a minor in Business Administration. She received her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law where she was the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in trial advocacy. In 2013, Wilson was named to Lawyer of Color’s Inaugural Hot List, which recognizes early to mid-career attorneys excelling in the legal profession. Wilson currently serves as Vice Chair of the Diversity Committee of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys and Vice President of the Capital City Lawyers Association, the African American Bar Association of Wake County. Wilson is a frequent speaker on labor and employment law issues and has been as a guest lecturer at North Carolina Central University School of Law. She is also a faculty member of the nationally renowned Kessler–Eidson Trial Techniques Program at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia.
